Muttnik Training Update

 

Muttnik's Founder, Rani MacInnes, is currently in the process of completing a one-year intensive dog instructor program with the Animal Behaviour College based in California.

 

The Animal Behaviour College's Training Program begins by teaching students how to build a proper canine/human relationship. Their philosophy is to creat a relationship built on positive interaction and consistency which can often deter future unwanted behavior problems, facilitate faster learning and even solve some existing behavioral challenges.

I have decided to hire Muttnik – what’s next?

Email or call us for a free in-home consultation - we will come by any time it is convenient for you. In this initial meeting, we will fill out an info sheet for all your canine companions, answer your questions and get to know your dog. If at the end of the meeting you want to hire Muttnik we will arrange a walking schedule that meets your needs and arrange to pick up a key.

 

What requirements does my canine companion have to meet?

Muttnik accpets dogs based on the following requirements:

  • City dog license
  • Vaccinations up to date
  • Spayed or neutered
  • Healthy and well-socialized – (no pre-existing health issues or concerns)
  • No history of aggression towards people or other dogs
  • Has been off-leash and responds when called

 

What are all your services & your fees & how do I pay?

Please refer to our Rates & Services page for more detail on services offered.

Muttnik will invoice you on the 1st and 15th of each month. We will leave you an invoice in your client information binder which is payable on the next walk. Muttnik accepts cheques, cash, Visa and Master Card. We will leave you a receipt upon payment.

 

What if I want a variety of your services – will you offer me a discount?

Muttnik will offer you a discount if you book more than one service with us – please contact us for more details.

 

What is your seasonal weather policy?

Muttnik will walk your companion rain or shine, snow or slush – only hitch is that we will not take your dog out when the winter weather goes below -18 degree’s or above +30 in the summer. At the heart of Muttnik is a genuine concern for the well-being and safety of your dog. We can offer ‘Bio’ breaks (bathroom breaks) instead during inclement weather for a reduced fee. Let us know your preference on the cold cold days of winter and the sweltering days of summer.

 

Adventure is dirty business. We request that you have a few dog towels by your door for an extra scrub down. We will wipe your companion down as best we can with our towels but we cannot offer a bath. If your dog is really dirty we request that you supply us with a space where we can safely leave your dog so that he will not soil your home.

 

When do you walk?

Muttnik walks in the morning and the afternoon only. We do not walk on weekends except by special arrangement.

 

What is the cancellation policy?

Muttnik requires 24 hours notice if you have to cancel a walk. After two cancellations, you will be charged for the walk. If you require an emergency walk please give us 24 hours to find you a space – we will try and accommodate you as best we can.

 

How do you get in and out of my home?

You can supply Muttnik with a key to your home or you can hide a key or leave your dog in your yard – you let us know what feels the most comfortable for you. Muttnik uses industry tested lock boxes that can be either left at a safe location at your home or can be stored at the Muttnik office. We are open to all suggestions and requests. We are insured and bonded.

 

How do I get more information on training, first aid, diet, etc?

Muttnik is your trusted advisor on all things related to dogs. We have developed a trusted network of pet experts to help us help you with all your questions and concerns. Please email us with any questions you may have and we will do our best to get you an answer.

 

Do you have a vacation schedule?

Muttnik will be closed on all statutory holidays, Christmas week and New Years Day as well as three additional weeks through out the year. We will notify you in advance of the vacation schedule and try our best to stagger our employee vacation schedules so as to continue meeting your needs. Please let us know your vacation shcedule as well in advance.

 

Do you have a store where we can purchase your products?

Muttnik is developing several products including organic dog beds, hemp leashes and collars, and even organic dog treats.
