Remembering

"My little dog - a heartbeat at my feet." - Edith Wharton

Muttnik shares our deep and special bond with your lovely dog and we will miss your pooch very very much. Being part of the Muttnik pack means your dog has become part of our family. They will forever bring warm memories and smiles to us.

"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace." - Milan Kundera

Kobi 1996 - 2009

Kobi, our dear 13 year old black lab has finally succumbed from kidney and lung cancer after 10 months battling Canine Cushings Disease and Addison’s Disease as well.

He was a zany alpha male – always on the top and always with a smile. He was so gentle and caring with our babies and formed an incredible bond with them. He had a passion for water and stream beds in particular, as he could dig and bark for hours at all the fascinating rocks and sticks in the clear flowing water tickling his nose and whiskers.

He loved the pet sits that we did at our home and was happiest when there were other dogs sharing his space.

He loved to cuddle and hold hands and would always lie on your feet wherever you may sit.

His fur was this amazing shiny black from years of salmon oil – it was so silky that you would want to run your hands over his pelt whenever he wandered by or wedged up for a rub. It remained this way until the day he died.

He loved his food as all labs do and in the end showed a penchant for what we called ‘junk food’ – a not as expensive food you can buy in a grocery store. He would gulp that up like no tomorrow. We felt like we could spoil him like this in the end.

Kobi was our fella, he will always be our guy and our home will be so quiet and lonely without his companionship. Our children are confused as to where he went and keep looking for him. We keep looking for him – a beacon of light…

Rest well old friend.

Misha - 1992-2008

18 years strong. A lovely Blue Heeler cross with charm, wit and motherly instincts. Misha loved her off leash romps and fiercely protected her pack as matriarch. She wore a jaunty pink coat in the winters and loved to run in short bursts. When Misha started walking with Muttnik her energy was low but within months she was acting like a young pup and eagerly waited at her door for the familiar sound of the key in the lock. Misha lived a strong long life and she will be dearly missed by all Muttnik staff as well as her partner in life, Nancy.

"She was a very happy girl who went out everyday with her Muttnik pack for an off-leash adventure at the park.  Being the oldest she was the mother hen of the group and made sure all the dogs stayed together.  She was also my best friend and I miss her. Adopted from the SPCA at 5 years old she went from rags to riches in the love department.  She had many human and fur friends who will also miss her." Nancy

Rest now Misha.
